Meet Dr. Preeti Chitgopekar
Helping my patients thrive with healthy mouths and beautiful smiles gives me joy.
My Professional Track
I married my love for art and medicine by becoming a dental surgeon. This provided me with a perfect medium to work with my hands while using my medical knowledge and insights to revitalize and rejuvenate my patients' lives.
In pursuit of my calling, I have sought advanced education that helps my patients understand the correlation between disease-causing oral microorganisms and medical conditions such as heart attack, diabetes, stroke, acid reflux, and more. I am currently studying for Diplomate standing in Dental Sleep Medicine to cure the damaging effects of sleep apnea on one’s health; in the past, I invested in mastering dental implants, orthodontics, and smile designs.
I graduated as a Valedictorian from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (San Francisco) in 1997. I also earned the Dean’s Award for Highest Scholarship, Outstanding Diplomacy and Leadership, and was honored with inclusion in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
My Personal Journey
My entire personal and professional outlook has been shaped by my early experience as a young dental student in India wherein I had the opportunity to participate in correcting cleft palates in underprivileged children and presenting them with an opportunity to lead normal, confident lives.
Daughter of an Indian Army Physician and a high school Math teacher, I spent 3 years of my early married life in a little French town called Grenoble which is located at the base of the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. I speak excellent French to this day and love to cook Escargots, Coq au vin, and Poire à la Beaujolaise (poached pears in red wine). The San Ramon-Pleasanton area however has been my home for the past two decades and it is here that my husband and I raised a handsome, down-to-earth mathematician son who is currently pursuing a PhD conceiving the next generation of supercomputers widely known as Quantum Computers. During my off hours, I tend to my roses and orchids, indulge in my passion for classical and contemporary dance forms, and volunteer time leading Indian cultural gatherings and conventions.
